Kedves TIPP Olvasok!

Indul a RANDI, a HIX tarskereso rovata!

Nevtelenul is lehet irni, megpedig akar a Supervisor szamara nevtelenul is;
igy a RANDI a tarskeresesen kivul alkalmas lesz olyan tabutemak felvetesere,

A baratsagos legkor fenntartasara Heller Gabor fog vigyazni, aki vallalta
a RANDI moderalasat.

Elofizetni a > vagy >
cimre kuldott levellel lehet.

Kellemez RANDIzast,
Jozsi. /HIX/

Technikai kiegeszites: (hogyan lehet a RANDI-ra levelet kuldeni)

A. nyilt level: (avagy sima HIX level)

Leveled kuldd a > cimre. A cimed (es az esetleg regisztralt neved)
megjelenik a fejlecben.

B. NeTuddKi: (avagy szokasos HIX nevtelenseg)

kaphatsz erre a cimre (a valaszolo cime viszont a te szamodra lesz
titkositva -- igy akar hosszu ideig is levelezhettek egymas kiletenek
ismerete nelkul).
Ha errol bovebbet akarsz tudni, akkor irj a cimre.

>FCC to regulate the Internet

>WASHINGTON, DC - The White House confirmed today that te FCC would assume
>responsibility for regulating the so called "Information Super Highway."
>Today, this consists of an autonomous network of computers known collectively
>as the Internet.

I'm sorry, but I have a real problem with people who think that hanging a
headline and a dateline on communication make it look official and, worse yet,
journalistic. Material like this, though well written, and who knows, perhaps
well-intentioned, falls short of genuine information because it lacks any real
sourcing...see below.

>Usually reliable sources revealed that the government has
>become increasingly apprehensive about the Internet's uncontrollable growth
>and the potential for damage to the national security. A highly placed
>government source was quoted as saying "...now anyone with $1,000 can obtain
>the computer hardware and software necessary to communicate on the Internet.
>Irresponsible individuals can easily transmit messages worldwide. Clearly,
>there is a need for government regulation."

Here we are in the lead of this story and we (the readers) are required to
take on faith from an unknown writer that an interview took place in which
some people identified as "usually reliable sources" (come on!) made some
sweeping statements about government regulation of the Internet.
.."a highly placed government source..." puh-lease! Give us at least one
named source per story....

>In response to these concerns, the FCC is rumored to be preparing restrictive
>regulations to ensure "responsible use" of the Internet. The FCC is reportedly
>cooperating with other natioanl and international agencies to coordinate
>these regulations. Several former eastern bloc countries and Italy are
>reportedly coordinating their internal regulation planning with the FCC.

Each one of these sentences contains the words "rumored" or "reportedly." So
what does this mean? It means a reporter couldn't verify it but the info
titillated their editor so much they left it in the copy. Did an editor review
this material before it was posted? How and where was this material collected?

>Although details are sketchy at this time, regulations are likely to take
>the form of a license examination for Internet users. Despite establishing
>a costly new government bureaucracy, the regulations could save money
>in the long run, according to government sources. "A single USENET posting
>may cost hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars; therefore, if licensing
>reduces such postings by only 10 percent, the savings will more than recover
>these additional costs," said a highly placed government source.

Here we are again...back to our unnamed, highly place government source. What
are this source's credentials? Why should we believe this quote? Is it
verifiable? Have you (the writer) given us any means to do so?

>Based on the FCC's history, the test will likely consist of three parts:
>theory, jurisprudence, and practice.

According to whom? The person(s) who posted this message? What are their
Look, I loathe the prospect of a government-regulated Internet as much
as the next user. Indeed, I comb these groups for MEANINGFUL information to
use in my studies and work which will be devoted to that end.
But material masqueraded as journalistic effort lacking any credible
sourcing aids little more in the cause than to fuel the debate with innuendo
and rumor. Help make this debate a reasoned one.
And don't bother to answer this with talk of source confidentiality
and that sort of crap. I've been a reporter for 15 years and I can't think of
a single editor I've worked for who would even look twice at an unsourced
article like this one.

Please pardon my intrusion. I am seeking information
on the television miniseries THE GLOBE which aired on
Hungarian television in 1993. The film was about students
at a language school and starred British actor
Clive Wood, of whom I am a fan.
I cannot speak Hungarian and felt a little lost trying
to locate information through the gopher service.
Could you please pass this request for information along
to someone who might be able to help me? My goal is
to obtain a copy of THE GLOBE for my personal viewing,
but any information to that end will be most appreciated.
I can be reached at Thank you.

Kedves tippelok

A kovetkezo problemat szeretnem megoldani:
Adott egy gomb felszinen 2 pont A es B (akar ket szoggel, akar x,y,z
koordinatakkal). Szuksegem lenne annak a gorbenek a parameteres
egyenletere amely osszekoti A es B-t es benne fekszik az A, B es a
gomb kozeppontja altal meghatarozott sikban. Lehetoleg a parameter
valtozzon 0 es 1 kozott, es termeszetesen legyen a parameteres egyenlet
a parameterben linearis.

Kosz a segitseget. A megoldast akar magan e-mailben is elkuldhetitek.

majdnem kimaradt a lenyeg: a gorbenek rajta kell lennie a gomb felszinen.
a megoldast sok sorrel jutalmaznam.
