You seem to miss the point. The hungarian minority propose autonomy,
the fear is that autonomy will be the first step towards a reimposition
of Hungarian colonial rule. The hungarian minority is just that, a minority.
If it ever wants to implement its program it is going to need to get
significant ethnic romanian support. So you are going to have to answer
that challenge above. You are going to have to demonstrate to us why
autonomy isn't going to be as bad as we fear, but as good as we can both
hope. I would suggest that one thing that you can do is police your own.
Shout down the idiotic hotheads who provoke us into getting mad at all
of you. Denounce those who are stirring the pot and ask us to do the same
so that reasonable people on both sides can form an alliance against our
respective extremists.

Can you say lip service? I knew you could.

Bernie Sanders, a Socialist, was elected to Congress in the US. Does that
mean that the US is going more to the left? No, in fact is moving right.
Similarly, Funar wins in Cluj while his party disintigrates and drops its
vote totals everywhere else. What does this say about racism/chauvanism
in Romania? A competent, showy politician is going to get re-elected
even if his constituency disagrees with him on certain issues.

No, you just have to look at the election results beyond just one city
before you can make statements about where the country is going. Funar
may represent Cluj or he may not on the ethnic question. It all depends
on internal motivations. This could have been measured by exit polling
but I haven't read about any of that in Cluj or anywhere else in Romania.

I can claim to be emporer of the US. If a town elects me as mayor does
that mean that it is true? Funar represents those who voted for PUNR.
The PUNR registered a decline in their vote share. Thus, Funar's
influence is on the ____________ .

my answer
1. Decline

paranoid hungarian answer
2. Rise

Let me know which side you ended up on.

What??? 2200 Hungarian placenames starting with Kl...? I doubt it.

+ - Is there life after Budapest? (mind) VÁLASZ  Feladó: (cikkei)

My momma owns a house in Hungary, therefore we're more or less committed
to go te Hungary this year. Last year we've zipped through the west
part, after staying two weeks in her house. This year we want to see
more of Hungary, I'm particularly attracted to the east, as I've never
been there before, but of course information about the west, north or
south is very welcome too!.
We're both not very much 'citylovers', and all information that's easy
to get seems to be about Budapest. Although a nice city, we're more
looking for tips about little towns or villages, nice forests, anything
off the beaten track. We're traveling in a Van and planning to bring our
two dogs. (Nosox and Kutya, hungarian by birth) Therefore this year,
as we did last year, we plan to be camping wild, preferably near water,
where it's possible to swim. (we're prepared to swim in fishing water,
as all non-swimming lakes are called
such in Hungary)
Also, I'd like to have tips about what to do, where to eat, and
what to see in the neighbourhood of Ajka, Papa, and Veszprem, as the
house is in Varoslod, and I'm planning to spend two weeks there alone
with my mother.
Thanks a lot for any help received!!!
